Lomotil Can't Get It In UK

A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭
Durham, UK

Lomtil or Co Phenodrone is the only thing that really helps bad IBS Day days, but it is no longer available in the UK. Loperamide is not enough on bad days and although Codeine helps I don't want to use it during the day or become dependent on it . Any suggestions?

I'd used lomotil on and off for many years. It does make me feel sick sometimes but that's not the norm. It's a wonder for me

How Do People Manage A Relationship When You Feel Like Crap Most Of The Time

A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭
Bolton, UK

Look I'm not in a relationship atm but sometimes I feel it would be lovely to find someone just to hold me a say everything will be ok. The sad thing is I'm not sure I could give much back atm. How do you go on when you don't feel great a lot of the time. I don't want to live a lie and pretend everything is ok, I do this enough at work and in front of my friends. Any advice would be appreciated

Has Anyone Else Tried The Low-FODMAP Diet For IBS-C (NOT IBS-D)? If So, How Did It Go For You??

A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭
Calgary, AB

The diet seems to be really geared towards IBS-D especially from what I can tell. I know when I first tried doing it it helped the bloating, but made everything else worse, because I was following all the low fiber (and often pretty heavy) recipes on Pinterest... not great for constipation or someone whose gut is triggered by heavy foods. Combining the low-FODMAP diet (modified with what I know I can handle based on the reintroduction phase) with a more personally "constipation friendly" diet… read more

Is There A Bearable Way To Mix Cholestyramine Powder?

A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭
Woonsocket, RI

I have been taking cholestyramine powder for about 6 months and if you take it you know it is not pleasant. It does not dissolve in liquid and if not mixed up vigorously you are swallowing lumps of orange powder. If there is anyone out there who takes it and has found a halfway bearable way of taking it I would greatly appreciate any advice. It helps so well for me but I want to puke everytime I drink it. What sucks is just about everything bothers me and I NEED to take this medication if I ever… read more

I have found so far the best way to take it is to mix it with applesauce. Or, mix with orange or pineapple juice or a Gatorade zero in the blender. Still slightly gritty, but way better than anything… read more

Has Anyone Ever Tried The Keto Diet?

A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭
New Milford, CT

Trying to lose maximum amount of weight but trying to find the safest way to do it, but the fastest way would be good too. I am looking to see if this would work for me, but don't know if it would be okay with IBS, even though it is low carb. But I know that they focus more on fats than anything else, which can be good and bad. Let me know what your thoughts are! Open to suggestions! Because its FRIYAY FRIDAY!

I find the components of that diet in large amounts cause more symptoms. Fats, to much dairy. Higher protein o.k.

Have had IBS since 1998, when my Mum died, and it is pretty much under control largely through diet. I do take omeprozole as and when needed.
