I have pain mostly on the left side along with constapation. It will sometimes travel over to the right side but not often. Is that common.

Members confirmed that left-sided abdominal pain with constipation is common with IBS, explaining that discomfort often stems from hard stool moving through the colon and can shift locations or radiate near the belly button. Several members shared helpful strategies including gentle massage of the left side, Miralax or Linzess to stay regular, bowel softeners without stimulants, and products like Prunelax or Mintec taken before meals. A recurring theme was the importance of staying ahead of constipation to prevent severe pain and complications like diverticulitis, with many members recommending a colonoscopy to rule out other issues if symptoms persist or worsen.

Start doing some Miralax or some linzess from your doctor and get regulated you can take a bowel softener in the morning and one at night as long as it doesn't have a stimulant in it to soften those bowels to get yourself cleaned out because your colon is in the lower left side and you can have pain that goes up to your belly button or all around that area and with constipation it just makes it worse and if you strain and strain then you're going to get diverticulitis which is little pockets in the colon and they can fill up with feces or things with seeds in them or anything and get infected and then you can have severe pain with a fever so get yourself cleaned out try some Miralax for a few days if that doesn't work you can also take the bowel softeners with the Miralax

It sounds like DIVERTICULOSIS, have you had a colonoscopy. Pretty much everyone has this as they age and people are usually not bothered by it.
I on the other hand had issues due to the IBS, when diverticuli get inflamed it causes diverticulitis, anything ending in itis means inflammation of the area. If you have a fever along with the left side pain, call the Dr. They will treat with antibiotics, bowel and bed rest.

That's how I found out I had IBS. Pain in the left side, so bad that I couldn't walk. Along with a 7 day constipation. After a colonoscopy, I was told I had IBS.
