Nighttime Symptoms

A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭

In other places I keep reading that IBS does not cause night time symptoms. On here, I see evidence all over of people having issues with IBS at night. I get occasional (once a month or so) incidences of waking up in the middle of the night having to go with pain. Does anyone have any clarity on the discrepency and if it is not caused by IBS what it could be? Thanks to all!

Hello and welcome! The member are supportive and offer good suggestions. I wake with pain a couple of times a week. It would probably be more often, but I take medication to help me sleep. Hope and prayers

I seen to have episodes a couple of hours after I eat supper (dosn't seem to matter what I eat). Then I am confined to the toilet for at least 4 or 5 hours. I am now taking a new medicine, Banatrol 2 times a day. So far it seems to be helping. I pray it continues to help. It would help if it was not so expensive!!
