Interesting answer Terri3. I do almost the same... but reverse. Deep breathing and relaxing, exhale and keep few seconds empty of air and take air while I feel the need to do so (nerver forcing myself to feel too much the need of air). Doing that many times calm me much. I add to that burping once in a while, burping a lot though, and while I feel my stomac empty of air... finally... I do relax it with my breathing exercice up to the point I don't feel any stress in it. Feel and sleep as a baby afterward. Good luck.

I try diaphragmatic breathing. As you inhale, push your belly out like your filling it with air. You’re not really putting air in your belly, but you’re making room for your diaphragm to lower and expand your lungs more. Hold the breath at the top of the inhalation for a few seconds then exhale sucking in your belly. I do it 3-4 times. It has a calming effect on me. It is also part of a Vagus nerve stimulation program for digestive problems. You actually start the process at your head and work down to your pelvis. The vagus nerve is the longest nerve in the body. It originates in your head and runs down along your GI tract ( not through the intestines, but straight down) ending at your hind end. It makes sense to me to try to work it for digestive problems. I’ve always done the breathing, but this specific program was just made available this week. I’m hopeful that the full program helps.
