What Are Your Top Tips For Dealing With IBS In The Heat?

I try to stay hydrated, which is not easy for me because large volumes of fluid sometimes cause cramps. I drink cool or room temp fluids, not iced drinks. I have a number of different cooling towels that I use on pulse points like neck, wrists and ankles. What compounds my summers with IBS is that I still have post menopausal hot flashes so getting one in the dreaded heat almost makes me want to commit hari kari. I feel like I’m going to incinerate! The worst wave of nausea precedes the hot flash and that starts a chain reaction along the rest of the “inflammation highway.” If I am eating a meal at that moment, that’s the end of the meal for me. If I am dehydrated at those times, the GI symptoms are worse than if I’ve had enough fluids. Hydration helps.

Hydrate..I drink 4 bottles of water, 16oz per. Plus a few Gatorade. Eat smaller meals. Stay indoors as much as possible. Heat makes me nauseous. This all helps.

I do take a bath each night. I left water in. If its hot the day after, I can take a much cold bath for sure. Feel like if I didn't suffer from heat hours before. I bike pretty much : cold bath is great after my hot prefered sport ;-)
