I use cholestyramine resin to deal with bile reflux. I had my pyloric valve removed to try to deal with gastroparesis to no effect. Several years later bile now flows through my stomach and into my throat and mouth (and ate away several teeth). The cholestyramine sequesters the bile and prevents the reflux (and appears to keep my teeth intact :-). Currently I use about 8-9 grams/day, using about 3 gms 3 times/day. I take one dose when I wake up, another about mid-afternoon, and one before I go to sleep. I also brush with high fluoride toothpaste (5000 ppm, by prescription) and use the toothpaste in my dental trays (molded plastic that fits over teeth) at night just in case, as well as sleeping in an adjustable bed with head raised. It takes all this to protect my throat and teeth, and cholestyramine is a vital component of this treatment.
