What Meds Do People Take For IBS?
Dr prescribed me a blue pill it does not help.
My doctor prescribed "levsin" (hyoscyamine)...it works wonders for me. Is an old time Rx, and is really cheap. An additional benefit is if allergies are causing watery eyes or runny nose, it dries that drainage up also. Sometimes that is only reason I use it. Put it under your tongue let it melt...no taste, flavor...and it really works fast !!. Also I don't have to take it everyday... only PRN..
Try it...you have nothing to lose except cramping. Bloating and diarrhea.
PS: on a really bad flare up, I do take 2 pills...they are tiny...
For me, fiber did not help..what does help is higher protein, less carbs, sugar and stress is my triggers. I get my protein from just about anything except meat. Not a vegetarian, just lost my taste for it.
But carbs definitely a trigger for me, so I keep them pretty low.
Good luck
Benytal works good for me too. I was also prescribed Linzess, but when I got to the pharmacist, and he told me the price, I declined buying it. It is considered a Tier 4 drug with my plan, which charges a co-pay for this drug, and then you have to pay for the presciption drug on top of the co-pay.
My dr. Prescribe my bentyl been taking it for years.. it works till have flare ups.. then there is nothing i can do r take to help
It works pretty good for me
