I take buscopan when mine flares up and take 2, 3x a daycan take a day to work but kicks in eventually. I am also on amitriptyline (which is a antidepressant) which has helped me alot as they help relax the body so relaxes the tummy etc as it got to the point that I had my ibs playing up every day and was down with it so now mainly on amitriptyline and dont use buscopan much now. I stay clear of red meats, any of the cabbage family, anything to acidic and also fizzy drinks as these are my triggers for a flare up.
I have in the past tried peppermint capsules which really didnt help me also colofac tablets which helped at first then stopped working.
Hope this help?

I find Imodium makes things worse before they get better. I used to take diacalm but it’s no longer available. Tried so many different things with little success over many years. Codeine tablets have a constipating effect so I take one the night before travelling etc.

Well the immodium works but not as fast as one would like. My daughter clued me into a prescription medicine called Lomotil It stops things quickly like less than 30 minutes!
